April 2015: POINT by Andi Steele

FIRST FRIDAY OPENING
April 3 :: 6-9p

RUNS
April 3 – April 24 :: weekdays 11a-4p

Andi Steele’s current work is divided into two series, both dealing with place–our place within the larger space. She creates site-specific monofilament installations that redesign existing spaces, challenging our visual and spatial perceptions. She also produces slightly smaller metal sculptures that form new spaces, some acting as protective places to enter and some as physical interruptions of existing space.

POINT is a combination of these two series. The work incorporates the translucency of the monofilament line with the solidity of the metal. The metal defines a concrete perimeter, while the translucency of the monofilament challenges spatial awareness and visual perception.
