Neil McDonald was struck by the emotion embodied by the flag after September 11, 2001 and for the five years since, in his travels across America he has been recording their effect. From the day when they lined the streets on the 12th to the faded after thoughts years later they symbolize the struggle of a nation in mourning, at war and in time. McDonald’s photographs number in the hundreds depicting their history until today. Curated by Larry Cooper, this show has flags come together and take the viewer on a personal trip of their own meaning and perspective of a time when everywhere we looked flags were flying.
