David Fellerath reviews Francesca Talenti's work in the Independent article "It All Starts Today" and relates it to hope going forward. The review coincides with Talenti's show "Francesca's Filmy Show" at Designbox through Nov 30, also a Best Bets on the Independent's arts calendar.

Symbodigy reviewed in Independent Weekly. Sep 1, 2004
The Independent's Birgit Schuette reviews the mulit-discplinary collaboratiove show at Designbox in August. Eileen Chevalier combined talents with Angelica Garcia [db] and others to create an interactive body-screenprinting show. Designboxer Cheryl Gottschall documented the work in exquisite photos while Raymond Goodman captured live images at the interactive event. Scot Dunlap and Dave Zahn contributed video imagery.

Talenti's "Poetry in Motion" to be on UNC-TV for Fall 2004.
This series of animations interprets nine different poems that span the world. From Emily Dickinson to contemporary poets, these animated poems are sometimes thoughtful, sometimes funny, and always inspiring. Funded by ITVS and the City of Austin, Poetry in Motion has been shown in festivals world-wide. They will be shown on UNC's North Carolina Visions this fall.

Talenti invited to International Public Television Conference. May 23-28, 2004
Francesca Talenti was invited by the conference to attend these seminars by pre-eminent professionals in Barcelona.

Khalifa an Expert Witness on Gloves in Canada. May 27, 2004
Aly Khalifa testified as an Expert Witness on sporting goods design and engineering in the case of Gold vs. MEC in Vancouver, Canada which concluded May 27. This case was in regards to a patent infringement dispute on glove closure systems between the two parties.

"An Eye on Time" examines Afghanistan and gathers eyewear. May 7, 2004

This benefit show features large photographs by Luke Powell on everyday life. Eyewear frames will be collected for those less fortunate in Afghanistan.

Designbox works with students to rethink Moore Square. Apr 21, 2004
DBers JP Reuer, Angelica Garcia, and Aly Khalifa combined forces with the Urban Design Center to work with Lee Moore and her students at the Moore Square Museums Magnet Middle School (M2M3) to make design suggestions on improving the Moore Square area for pedestrians, cyclists, and those who want to relax. Results will be on display in the windows at the Cherry Huffman building throughout May.

The NCSU College of Management had Aly come in to work with their MBA students and teach techniques in creativity. Together they focused on domestic manufacturing using the Creative Consensus technique.

Designbox examines urbanism in Raleigh. Apr 2, 2004
Curated by DBers JP Reuer and Jon Zubizarreta, and involving the Urban Design Center and the NCSU College of Design, "downtown neighborhoods" examines how Raleigh is changing. Also scheduled is a talk at 7pm on April 2nd by author Denis Wood on his Atlas of Boylan Heights.
