Keep A Breast — Raleigh

Evan Lightner' artwork was the high seller of the evening, going for $1000 to Christian Winter! Thank you Evan and Christian!

To kick off Breast Cancer Awareness month, Designbox teamed together with internationally acclaimed Modart to bring a multi-artist collaborative of painted busts. The busts are created by concerned women, painted by local artists and were auctioned at the October 3 Event. All proceeds benefit Breast Cancer charities.

Our primary goals for the event were Awareness, Dialog, and Fundraising. The auction was a complete success, raising over $10,000, with an estimated 500 people attending. Various stories on television news and in local newspapers helped to further the success of those goals. Thank you to all those who participated in any way. Your generosity will go to help someone touched by this disease.

There are numerous groups involved in fighting this important disease. Here is a list of the four charities to whom we will send all auction proceeds:

Alice Aycock Poe Center for Health Education
This group promotes critical breast cancer education to high schools through their Better Start Early program.

Sisko Foundation
A highly successful group that raises funding for breast cancer through their “Raise a Racquet” program. They provide free mammograms to disadvantaged women.

BC Support Group
An on-line user forum dedicated to helping people go through breast cancer and treatments together.

Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation – NC Triangle Affiliate
Benefitting from the national foundation, the Triangle Affiliate provides many breast cancer services including monetary support for women in financial stress during treatment.
